COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police is investigating five homicides within a 48-hour span in the city.
The most recent came Monday night when a woman was found dead outside on Sullivant Avenue.
This woman’s death follows a fatal stabbing Saturday on South Champion Avenue and a deadly shooting early Sunday morning on Great Southern Boulevard.
Police are also continuing to investigate the death of two people involving an attempted burglary near Hilliard.
Columbus police initially said two people were stabbed and 24-year-old Jacob Stratton had been shot and killed. They now say they cannot confirm Stratton was shot.
While searching the suspect's residence, the condo next door, Columbus police found another man, a 25-year-old deceased. Police are not saying how that man was killed.
“It is alarming. It's scary. I know at the same time it's something myself and others are going to fight,” said Ralph Carter.
Carter is the founder of "We are Linden," a group that works to cut down on violence in his community.
He says it's painful to hear there has been so much deadly violence in a short period of time.
“It hurts to see that. It's never something we take lightly or be numb to. We cannot get numb to senseless violence that is going on in our communities,” Carter said.
10TV has requested Columbus police for an interview on the recent violence on multiple occasions, but those requests have been denied.
