COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man was charged for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capital two years ago.
Kyle Campbell, 31, is facing felony charges of assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers and civil disorders, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. In addition, he is facing multiple misdemeanors.
Court documents say law enforcement authorities identified Campbell among a crowd of rioters who were attempting to overwhelm officers by breaching a police line at the Capitol. Campbell was allegedly seen pushing police officers in multiple instances throughout video footage collected at the Capitol.
Campbell was arrested on Monday and made his initial appearance in the Southern District of Ohio.
In the nearly three years since the Capitol riot, more than 1,200 people have been charged, including 440 people who have been charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
