COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was injured after he was shot during an Islamic religious celebration at a park in the Hilltop neighborhood early Monday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Several people were gathered at Holton Park on North Eureka Avenue just before 2 a.m. to celebrate the Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha.
Police said someone in the crowd pulled out a rifle and fired it at someone. One of the bullets hit a man in the knee. The reason for firing the weapon is unknown at this time.
The man who was shot in the knee was taken to a hospital by another person and was treated for his injuries.
Police said attendees of the celebration were not able to describe the suspected gunman.
