MARION, Ohio — A body was found in Marion on Wednesday after police said a man called 911 claiming he killed someone.
Police said 32-year-old Jonathan Welch called them shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and said he killed a man.
Officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Saint Gallen Avenue.
After the initial investigation, officers said a homicide "most likely had occurred" on the property.
Investigators, including the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, remained on scene through Wednesday afternoon.
A body was found buried in the backyard and taken to the coroner's office in Toledo for an autopsy.
The body was identified Thursday as 33-year-old Jasper Braddy and police said he had been shot.
Police said Welch was arrested on bond violation charges and taken to the Multi-County Jail in Marion.
On Thursday, police said Welch is also charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
The case will be shared with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office to be reviewed. Police said additional charges are expected.
