MARION, Ohio — A Marion city councilman who is facing charges after being accused of raping a teen girl was indicted on multiple felonies by a grand jury Thursday, according to Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan.
Ayers Ratliff is now charged with rape, gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He was previously charged with rape.
A complaint filed in Marion County Municipal Court in May alleges that Ratliff raped a girl under the age of 15 at his home. Court records state that the victim told a friend who reported it to a school guidance counselor the next day, and Marion police were notified.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted police with a search warrant at Ratliff’s home. Officers found physical and electronic evidence, according to Grogan.
Marion City Council's website lists Ratliff as a councilman for Ward 2.
Ratliff remains under a previously ordered bond of $500,000.
