HINESVILLE, Ga. — An autopsy report gives insight into how two Georgia firefighters were found dead across state lines after going missing.
Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander's bodies were discovered in Cocke County, Tennessee, on June 30. 11Alive previously reported that Anderson was last seen on June 25 at the Liberty County Fire Services Station #1 in Midway, Georgia.
Authorities believed Anderson had been accompanied by Kuhbander, who had also been reported missing in Liberty County.
Kuhbander's vehicle was found in Savannah, and Anderson's vehicle was spotted in Richmond Hill before it was found in Tennessee.
Now, the autopsy reports for both are revealing how the tragedy unraveled for the 24-year-olds who were once high school sweethearts.
According to the Regional Forensic Center autopsy report, Anderson kidnapped ex-boyfriend Kuhbander. It was reported that she was unstable and forced Kuhbander to come with her, the autopsy states. On June 30, the car was found parked in the woods on personal property in Cocke County with the two dead inside.
The autopsy documents said Anderson shot Kuhbander and then herself. Kuhbander had two gunshot wounds to the left side of the upper back near the neck that ultimately killed him. His manner of death was listed as a homicide. Whereas Anderson had a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was a suicide.
The report also said Anderson wrote a note found in the vehicle apologizing.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is completing an investigation and told 11Alive that it has not released any additional details.
