COLUMBUS, Ohio — An alleged member of a transnational criminal organization made his first court appearance Friday after being extradited to Columbus this week.

Julio Ernesto Jimenez-Oyaga was charged with conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine into the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

Jimenez-Oyaga and others are accused of coordinating a planned delivery of multiple kilograms of cocaine in separate transactions from Colombia through Panama, knowing it would be imported into the U.S.

With the assistance of Panamanian law enforcement authorities, the cocaine was intercepted and seized.
