COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man is in custody and has been charged with murder in connection to a shooting in northeast Columbus earlier this month, police said.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, 49-year-old Laroy Robinson surrendered without incident at the Franklin County Jail Wednesday after a warrant was out for his arrest.
On Dec. 2, officers were called to the 2000 block of Cornell Street on a report of a shooting around 12:10 a.m. Officers found 46-year-old Malik Islam lying on the street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead at 12:26 a.m.
Police said that during the investigation, it was determined that Islam was having a conversation with Robinson at the time of the shooting.
The investigation is still ongoing.
