COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 27-year-old Columbus man has pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced Thursday in connection to the death of a man whose body was found by a dumpster in Italian Village last summer, according to Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Gary Tyack.
The prosecutor's office said Michael Mickens Jr. pleaded guilty to the shooting death of Isiaha Thompson-Angus that occurred on June 19, 2023. Mickens was immediately sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
In the morning hours that day, Columbus police found Thompson-Angus’ body by a dumpster behind an apartment on High Street near West Starr Avenue.
The investigation revealed that Mickens fatally shot Thompson-Angus after a fight with Mickens' brother.
Mickens' brother, Micheal, is also charged with murder in the case.
