GROVE CITY, Ohio — Two Grove City Division of Police officers were disciplined after not properly escorting an inmate who managed to escape from them two months ago.
Quinntel Bagley escaped from the officers, identified by the division as Carrie Rose and Brian Strawser, on June 13 while leaving Fairfield Medical Center. Bagley was in custody for allegedly kidnapping a woman in Grove City and he was being treated at the hospital for injuries.
Body camera video shows Bagley running away from the officers shortly after leaving the hospital. Both officers ran after him but couldn't keep up.
Police said Bagley broke into a home and stole a car after escaping from the officers.
As a disciplinary action, the police division says it took away five vacation days from each officer.
According to the Grove City police, Strawser and Rose did not correctly apply trained escort techniques while escorting Bagley.
Neither officer has a history of similar issues, according to the police department.
Rose started with the department in 2002. She had previously worked for the Logan Police Department.
Strawser started with the department as a dispatcher in 1999 and became a police officer a year later.
On Aug. 2, authorities say Bagley kidnapped the same woman again in Grove City, but she was able to get away from him unharmed. Bagley is still on the run.
A $10,000 reward has been offered leading to Bagley's arrest. He is wanted for aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, failure to comply, parole violation for kidnapping and failure to register as a sex offender.
