The Central Ohio Transit Authority has spent nearly $10 million to redesign its transit schedule. The overhaul will effect all 67 bus lines.
For some of the frequent riders, the familiar spots to stop and go are about to change.
"I take it at least every day cause I ride the bus home from work," COTA passenger Troy Rowland said.
COTA has revamped its entire bussing system. Transit officials say the nearly $10 million project has taken years to implement.
"We brought in experts to work with our transit planners, worked with people in the community, taking a look at what the needs are today," COTA President W. Curtis Stitt said.
Passengers will have to make some adjustments from now on. Routes will change, bus numbers will be different and officials say more service 7 days a week is finally here.
"I know especially on Sundays the 2 only runs every half an hour it makes it a little bit more difficult if you miss that one. What are you going to do for the next half an hour," passenger Casey Eschenbach said.
Officials say because COTA carts around about 65,000 people a day, the change should make it easier for them to get from place to place. There will be more direct routes to Easton, Rickenbacker and Polaris.
"We took into consideration a lot of things over the past two and a half years as we were planning this new system and we believe it's a system that's designed for our needs today," Stitt said.
COTA unveiled new signage at several bus stops on High Street that are meant to help with the changes.
"I just started getting used to this bus route and now they're going to change it. I don't know how it will effect where or what yet," Rowland said.
Officials say the dispatch center is ready to handle calls of confusion and a street team of COTA employees will be at bus stops and on the buses on Monday.
