The newly-released interrogation tapes of a man sentenced to life in prison last week forkilling three people were shedding new insight into why he committed the crimes.

During six hours of interrogation over a two-day period, Sammy Littleton never toldinvestigators how he killed Tiffany Brown or Dick and Gladis Russell, 10TV's Kevin Landers reportedon Monday.

Littleton, 38, told investigators that he and Brown, 26, who was the daughter of his live-ingirlfriend, argued about money shortly before she was slain.

While dressed in a hospital gown while being detained by West Virginia authorities Littletontold Bellefontaine police officers that he struggled with "evil thoughts" since he was a child, andthat those thoughts never stopped.

"I really don't know how it got started. I think evil thoughts all the time," Littleton toldinvestigators. "All the time. I mean, that's why I keep myself away from people. There ain't (sic)one minute that I don't think about how to snap somebody's neck, crush their head. Why would aperson have those kinds of thoughts all the time?"

Littleton admitted that as a child, he thought about chopping up his stepmother.

He told investigators that he fought with Brown, a mother of two children under the age of 5,and that she fell down the stairs.

"I don't know why I snapped. I don't. I'm sitting here trying to think why I snapped," Littletonsaid. "I don't know if I pushed her, I don't know. I don't know if I pushed her."

Brown's body was found five days after she was reported missing. She had been stabbed to deathand was found under a pile of scrap wood in Littleton's basement.

Investigators said that Littleton killed Dick and Gladis Russell, stole their car and used it toflee to West Virginia, where he was captured in late February.

The Russells' bodies were later discovered in Tennessee and Georgia, but at the time of hisquestioning, neither of the Russells had been found.

Littleton told investigators that it was dark out when he dumped their bodies, saying one wasleft in a cotton field, and he was unsure if he could lead police to them, Landers reported.

Littleton was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleadingguilty on Thursday to all three slayings.

During his sentencing, Littleton was given an opportunity to speak but he said little.  Hispublic defender offered an apology on his behalf.
