A Columbus police officer has been reassigned because of an ongoing criminal investigation bythe Reynoldsburg Police Department.
A Columbus Division of Police spokesman confirmed that the police sergeant, who was notidentified, is working desk duty and has had his badge and gun taken away during theinvestigation, 10TV News reported.
Reynoldsburg police are investigating an allegation of sexual misconduct against theofficer, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.
The investigation started after the sergeant reported his home was burglarized on Monday,Landers reported.
Soon after the officer reported the burglary, Reynoldsburg police apprehended two suspects.While in police custody, one of the suspects, a 17-year-old boy, told investigators he had had aprior sexual relationship with the officer who reported the burglary.
Reynoldsburg police said if the allegations are true, there could be other teens who the officerhas had contact with, but said so far there is no evidence to back up the teen's claims.
The sergeant's service weapon was stolen during the break-in and has not beenrecovered.
No charges have been filed against the officer.
