The man who police say pulled the trigger, killing a Columbus pizza delivery driver is heading to prison.

A jury convicted Latrell Richey of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping on Wednesday. Richey and two teenagers robbed and killed 59-year-old James A. Flannery on July 30, 2015, as he unknowingly delivered pizza to a vacant house. The teenagers, Sir Jeffrey Carroll Jr. and Jalen Hughes, took a plea deal to testify that Richey pulled the trigger.

According to the police report, on the night of the murder, Carroll called Papa John's, asking for a pizza to be delivered to a house near the intersection of Weyburn Road and Kenaston Drive. In an apparent ambush, the teen robbed Flannery at the intersection and fired one round into the driver's chest. The suspects fled the scene with cash and pizzas.

Flannery was able to escape and was driving back to the Papa John's on South Hamilton Road and Macsway Avenue when he stopped his minivan near Hamilton and Kingsland Roads.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Richey will be sentenced in March. He faces life in prison. The teenagers will be sentenced at a later date.
