Three men have advanced to the final round of interviews to be the next Columbus Division of Fire chief, 10TV News reported Thursday.
According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Assistant Chiefs Gregory A. Paxton and David J. Walton and Deputy Chief David K. Whiting have advanced past the initial round of interviews with a screening panel.
Paxton is the fire division's executive officer. Walton oversees the bureau of emergency services, and Whiting is in charge of the special operations unit, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Mayor Michael Coleman and Public Safety Director Mitchell Brown will hold the next round of interviews and will jointly decide on the next fire chief to replace former Chief Ned Pettus, Jr., who retired in March.
