A man who pleaded guilty to throwing a punch that killed a man outside an Arena District bar wassentenced on Monday to 60 days in jail.
Brent Goode also received a four-year suspended jail term, was sentenced to three yearsprobation and will be under house arrest for 60 days, 10TVs Jeff Hogan reported.
Last month, Goode pleaded guilty to felonious assault in connection with the death of NickFoss.
Investigators said that on April 6, 2008, the two men got into an argument about a case of beeroutside GasWerks bar, located at 487 Park St.
According to prosecutors, the argument escalated and Goode punched Foss, causing him to fall andhit his head on the pavement, 10TV News reported.
Foss, a nursing student, died from his injuries a few days later.
Judge Stephen L. McIntosh issued a challenge to Goode to make something of his life because hewas responsible for taking one with so much potential.
"We have a life sentence that's with us every day," said Charles Foss, the victim'sfather. "You don't come to terms with it."
Terri Foss, the victim's mother, said that she misses the text messages she used to get fromNick that said he loved her.
The case was moved to a larger courtroom because an overflowed crowd. McIntosh said thatin his 25 years on the bench that he has never seen such an outpouring of support for oneindividual.
