Display cases full of sweet treats make the Richland County home a magnet for neighborhoodchildren, 10TV's Glenn McEntyre reported.
Amid the sweet treats, police some something more sinister was for sale, McEntyre reported.
"Crack cocaine was found in a cash drawer," said METRICH Drug Task Force Detective DawnBrown.
In addition to crack, investigators also found marijuana and other drug paraphernalia inside thestore, McEntyre reported.
The candy store remained open during the investigation.
Detectives said there was no evidence that the shopkeeper, who 10TV did not identify, wasselling drugs to kids.
"Knowing the volume of children going into this house day in and day out, knowing what they mayencounter because of the other activities, it could have been deadly circumstances," Brownsaid.
Charges have not yet been filed against the woman who runs the store. Detectives said theyplanned to submit a list of potential charges to a Richland County grand jury.
