A boil water advisory remained in effect on Friday for hundreds of people from a water main break that occurred along West Main Street.

The water shot into the air and spewed into the street for more than 12 hours before crews got it under control, 10TV's Shayla Reaves reported.

According to the city, the 16-inch water main break occurred between Collegeview Road and Cleveland Avenue on Thursday afternoon. Anyone working or living in the area, including properties south to Schrock Road, is under the alert, along with residential areas east of Granby Place west to Cleveland are under the boil advisory.

Low water pressure was reported at St. Ann's Hospital. According to hospital administrators, drinking and bathing water were distributed and no problems were reported.
