Restaurant chain Bob Evans Farms announced Monday it is shuttering more than two dozen restaurants to boost profits.

President and CEO Saed Mohseni said “Performance at each of these locations…was not meeting expectations.

According to the Wall Street Journal, 1,100 employees will be laid off as a result of the closures.   Those impacted will be offered jobs at nearby locations, according to the company.  If relocation is not possible, severance benefits will be offered.

Of the locations, 21 of the restaurants are owned and six are leased.

The company expects to make around $20 million from the sale of the owned properties, boosting annual operating income by $1 million.
