The power company could be the best place to start on trying to save on winter heating andelectric bills.
American Electric Power is offering in-home energy assessments and audits, Consumer 10's KurtLudlow reported on Monday.
Professional auditors can go to your home and make suggestions on what you can do to save somemoney.

If you make the suggested improvements to your home within six months of the assessment oraudit, you can qualify for rebates.
"In the long run it will save the customer," said Michele Kowalik, AEP's manager of consumerprograms. "Essentially the one-hour energy assessment, it only costs $25, and any customer can callinto AEP Ohio and get the assessment."
Just for having an assessment, the auditor will install several free energy saving products inyour home.
