Crews were investigating a single-engine plane crash that killed the two people onboard Friday night.

A plane went down in a field about 400 yards off of Adams Road, the Marysville post of the OhioState Highway Patrol said.

The patrol said it was notified a small plane was missing in the area and troopers found thewreckage shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Jerome Township Fire Chief Scott Skeldon said two people were abord the single-engine plane. Atleast one of those dead is a man, but the victim's identities have not yet been released, 10TV'sKurt Ludlow reported.

The plane was coming from Indianapolis and was headed to Pennsylvania, Ludlow reported.

The search for the plane began Friday evening after it failed to stop at the Union CountyAirport to refuel, Skeldon said. Skeldon said the Highway Patrol and the Union County Sheriff'soffice were notified about the missing plane around 6 p.m. Friday, but after an extensive search, found nothing.

Crews checked green spaces and private air strips, but called the search off when it becamedark, Ludlow reported.

The U.S. Air Force's Civil Air Patrol located the plane using its emergency signal and thesearch team found the crash debris around 8:30 p.m.

"We did have one report, while we were doing the initial search during the daylight hours thatsomeone heard an engine give out.  But they didn't have an area for us to search in," Skeldonsaid. "So we're just assuming that was when the plane did go, and like I said that was about 6o'clock."

The two people killed were flying for a business trip, Skeldon said.
