From morning roll call to time at the firing range, Westerville's police chief putsin a long and varied day.
Crimetracker 10's Angela An found this out when she served as the community's PoliceChief for a Day.
The real police chief, Joe Morbitzer, provided a closer look at how his city ismaking sure officers stay a step ahead of the criminals.
Riding in the back of a cruiser, An saw how a simple check on an expired licenseplate tag revealed the plates belonged to another vehicle and that both persons in the vehicle wereunder suspension.
"You have to stay on top of your game," Morbitzer said. "If you don't, you lose. Andif we lose, it affects the public."
Staying on top of the game included target practice at the firing range.
But having the skills for police work isn't enough, according to Morbitzer.
"If you don't have integrity, it's time to go home," Morbitzer said. "That's thebasis for everything."
