COLUMBUS, Ohio — Smokehouse Brewing Company near Grandview is shuttering its doors after more than 25 years in business.
The business shared news of its upcoming closure on social media and its website, saying the closing date will be Jan. 2. The Facebook post says the brewery was one of the first craft breweries in the region, now the number has grown to dozens.
Owners wrote that the chiller that is used for the fermentation process died, and without it, they are unable to make beer.
The statement read in part, ”We’ll miss what we built. We’ll miss our beer. (We brewed over 100 different beers over the years.) We’ll miss our special events. We’ll miss our award-winning wings. We’ll miss you.”
As a parting gift to its customers, the brewery is bringing back some of its favorite beers as part of a “Small Batch Series" — just one-sixth of a barrel each. Customers who order a pale ale will get a commemorative Smokehouse pint glass.
