COLUMBUS, Ohio — A popular Southern chicken restaurant will soon open locations in Columbus after signing a 25-unit deal.
Slim Chickens is a dine-in and drive-thru restaurant that was founded in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003. The chain now has more than 250 locations across the United States and the United Kingdom and more than 1,200 locations in development.
In the deal with restaurant operator Big Star Chicken, the chain signed a 25-unit deal to open locations in Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton, according to a release.
There are currently only three Ohio locations open in Avon, Canton and Streetsboro.
“After researching Ohio markets for several years, we believe Slim Chickens will be a great fit,” said the president of Big Star Chicken, Dan McGrath. “The brand has been a home run for us with its superior product quality, southern hospitality, facilities and menu offerings.”
The menu consists of items like tenders and wings, sandwiches, mac bowls, wraps, salads, chicken and waffles and more.
Right now, Slim Chickens is targeting several markets coast to coast from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and New York as well as overseas in the European Union, Turkey, the GCC and Asia.

The franchisee did not disclose when or where they will open.
