Abandoned yellow lab finds forever home and a seat on a 'Pup Bus' after trying to catch a ride weeks earlier

Waylon was roaming the streets of Carnesville until a doggy daycare bus passed by and he decided to chase after it. A risky decision with a heartwarming ending.

CARNESVILLE, Ga. — It was a full-circle moment for a Yellow Lab someone abandoned in Franklin County in Northeast Georgia.

The pup now known as Waylon found himself onboard a doggy daycare bus on Wednesday that he had actually spotted weeks earlier roaming the streets of Carnesville.

It's not known how long Waylon had been on the streets before his path would cross with Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming's 'Pup Bus.' However, from posts on the business's Facebook page, it appears some neighbors in the community had been feeding Waylon. He was kind of known but just didn't have a forever home.

Then, on the morning of July 16, along Brown Road, Waylon spotted Keller Creek's doggy daycare bus.

He must've had a hearty breakfast because the bus driver said Waylon was sprinting for some time next to the doggy daycare bus. The moment was posted on Keller Creek's Facebook page.

This video of Waylon caught the attention of Saide Peace, who already owned a Yellow Lab named Neli.

"I was doing my daily check of the Keller Creek Facebook because I send Nelli (Waylon’s sister) there, and I saw where they posted about a lab that was chasing the, so I reached out." Peace said.

Keller Creek put Peace in touch with the place where Waylon was apparently renting ground for free as a half-time stray along Brown Road.

"I reached out to the girl and told her that I was interested in getting him so that night my boyfriend and I took Nelli to go meet him and I knew once we got there and saw him that I was taking him home with me," Peace explained.

Peace said that in the following days, she took Waylon to the vet to get checked out and get him up-to-date on his vaccines. That's why Waylon wasn't able to hitch a ride originally.

So fast-forward a couple of weeks, Nelli and Waylon have gotten acquainted with life together as siblings.

And on Wednesday, they boarded the 'Pup Bus' together for Waylon's first day at daycare/school.

"I knew I would be taking him to Keller Creek since his sister absolutely loves going there, and he made it very clear that he wanted to get on that bus that day he was chasing them," Peace said.

On Wednesday evening, Keller Creek posted an update on Waylon's first day with his new squad.

The lab has quickly adapted to his new life filled with another fur-buddy and lots of love.

"He sleeps in the bed curled up right beside his sister every night like they were meant to be siblings," Peace said. "He is truly an amazing dog, and I’m so glad I was blessed to give this sweet baby a home."
