Hot Chicken Takeover will 'receive new branding' following sale

Hot Chicken Takeover was founded in 2014 when it started in Columbus' Olde Towne East neighborhood.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Hot Chicken Takeover, central Ohioans’ go-to restaurant for Nashville hot chicken, will rebrand itself in the coming months after being sold to a new restaurant group.

Gregg Majewski, former CEO of Jimmy John’s and current CEO of Craveworthy Brands, announced last week that it acquired Untamed Brands, the parent company of Hot Chicken Takeover and Taim — a build-your-own-bowl concept based in New York City.

Craveworthy Brands also owns other food concepts such as Genghis Grill, Dirty Dough and BD’s Mongolian Grill.

“Taim and Hot Chicken Takeover are beloved concepts with long histories of serving high-quality cuisine and providing excellent service,” Majewski said. “They bring a fresh perspective and complement our existing portfolio extremely well, which allows us to cater to diverse consumer preferences and truly tap into new markets.”

Hot Chicken Takeover will receive “new branding, refreshed restaurants and further emphasize the guest dining experience in the coming future,” according to Craweworthy Brands.

"Successfully integrating Taim and Hot Chicken Takeover will be a game-changer for Craveworthy Brands and place the Company at the helm of the restaurant landscape, as we continue to expand our footprint and presence throughout the U.S.,” Majewski said.

Additional details on the rebranding and the sale were not provided.

Hot Chicken Takeover was founded in 2014 when it started in Columbus' Olde Towne East neighborhood. It has now seven locations in central Ohio and one location in the Cleveland area.
