THREE FORKS, Arizona — Four long-eared owlets were saved by Arizona Game and Fish Department officers after they fell out of their nest near Big Lake.
Officers Kalyn Miller and Tylor McGaughey responded to a call about the owlets and found them to be in good health but not old enough to fledge yet. They made a plan to get the owlets back into their nest, which was about 40 feet up a tree, officials said.
"After recently being trained by the department to climb trees for the uncommon situations where this might be necessary, Officer Miller was able to climb the tree and successfully get the young owls back in the nest," a statement from the department said.
While rescuing the four owlets, another jumped from the nest but the officer was able to get that owlet back to safety as well.
“Just another great day in the field conserving and protecting wildlife,” said Officer Miller.
