Abandoned newborn found in Florida finds forever family

The mother of the newborn has not been found or identified even after "extensive efforts" by detectives.

MULBERRY, Fla — The Polk County Sheriff's Office announced exciting news on Wednesday about a baby girl who has found her forever home after being abandoned in Mulberry earlier this year.

On Jan. 28, the baby girl was found wrapped in a blanket on a small hill near the Regal Loop Mobile Home Park, just off Bailey Road. She was still attached to the placenta, the sheriff's office explained.

Authorities estimate that she was born approximately one hour before she was found, based on the infant's body temperature. It was in the low 50s outside.

A resident nearby was able to hear the cries from the baby and called 911.

The mother of the newborn has not been found or identified after "extensive efforts" by detectives.

But now, fast forward 10 months – the baby has officially been adopted!

"We are thrilled to share with you these photos from this morning of this precious angel with her new mom and dad, along with PCSO's Detective Green and Sgt. Ryan," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook.
