COLUMBUS, Ohio — Fairfield County is set to fall under a spell as witches, wizards and cosplaying warriors of all kinds converge for a one-of-a-kind magical event later this week.
Wands and Wizards weekend runs Thursday through Saturday and is organized by Visit Fairfield County.
"The best place to start is to come to our visitors center in downtown Lancaster," explained Jonett Haberfield, Fairfield County's tourism director. "We have goodies that we give away there [and] all kinds of wonderful things that you can pick up in the visitors center and then you go off on your adventure."
Dozens of shops around Lancaster are set to participate, offering themed food and drink as well as merchandise and prizes. The libraries around the county are getting involved with the festivities by hosting workshops and activities to help aspiring witches and wizards outfit themselves for the fun ahead.
On Friday, Pickerington will hold its second annual Wizard Faire event from 4-9 p.m. in Victory Park near the old downtown of the city.
"It's really captured people's imagination," said Haberfield. "It's just a great way for everybody who loves to read, loves to pretend, and just have a good time."
