COLUMBUS, Ohio — Shadowbox Live is heating up the holiday season with two new shows filled with humor, heart, rock and roll, and plenty of holiday cheer.
"Holiday Hoopla 2023: Same Holiday, New Hoopla" is the latest incarnation of the beloved holiday show that has been a staple performance for Shadowbox Live for over 30 years.
"It's different every single year," said Shadowbox CEO and meta performer Stacie Boord of the company's Christmas classic. "It's sketch comedy and music, but it's dance and costumes and lights and we really celebrate the fun of the holidays as well as the dysfunction of the holidays."
Some of the show's sketches draw their laughs from loving examinations of family dynamics around the holidays.
"For sketch comedy, you know, the characters are outrageous, but everybody knows those characters," explained Boord.
"Not So Silent Night" is the company's second show that runs in rep throughout the season.
"It's a holiday musical for everyone," explained Boord of the family-friendly show. "It's a heartwarming story with a wonderful array of music about a DJ taking requests and you see little vignettes of, kind of, things that are going on in people's homes during Christmastime."
