COLUMBUS, Ohio — One of the foremost innovators of funk music is coming to Columbus this year.

Parliament-Funkadelic featuring George Clinton will play on May 31 at the Mershon Auditorium at The Ohio State University. Tickets will go on sale on Friday.

Dumpstaphunk will be a special guest at the show.

Clinton revolutionized R&B and created a unique art that lifted the genre of funk to its international status. He founded Parliament-Funkadelic after being inspired by Motown’s assembly line of sound.

Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and were recipients of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Some of their most popular songs include “Give Up The Funk,” “Atomic Dog,” and “Swing Down Sweet Chariot.”
