ZANESFIELD, Ohio — Mad River Mountain in Zanesfield is officially opening for the winter season after weeks of warm weather delaying snowmaking.
The ski resort opened Saturday and will remain open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. A release from the resort said that the final ingredient the snowmaking team was waiting for was cold temperatures.
Guests who arrive early on Saturday for the banner break will be given vanilla buttercream frosted cookies and Mad River stickers (while supplies last).
“I am so excited to kick off my first season as general manager,” said Alajos Fiel at Mad River Mountain. “Our teams have worked hard to make this day possible. Our priority is continued terrain expansion, and we will make snow at every opportunity this early season. We have so much to celebrate this season, including the return of Midnight Madness on January 20 and February 10.”
Terrain access includes Sundowner Triple Lift, Valley View, Sundowner, Discovery Handle Tow and the beginner area.
Mad River Mountain is the largest ski and snowboard resort in Ohio and has a range of slopes from gentle beginner areas to steeper pitches and a terrain park.
