Wagnalls Community Theater to take the stage with 'The House on Pooh Corner' April 19-28

Wagnalls Community Theater’s production of “The House on Pooh Corner” runs April 19 through the 28 at Wagnalls Memorial Library in Lithopolis.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Hundred Acre Wood comes to Lithopolis next weekend as Wagnalls Community Theater prepares to take the stage with “The House on Pooh Corner.”

The beloved characters of Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Owl and all of the other residents of the Hundred Acre Wood are set to warm the hearts of young and old alike as they come to life in the form of adorable, bespoke puppets controlled onstage by actors.

“They are such beloved characters, so it could’ve been daunting to the actors...but I think they’ve all added their own things and we’re really proud of all of them,” said Madi Ryan, one of the production’s co-directors.

“Everyone has really become one with their puppets,” said Sam Myers, the play’s other co-director, “which has been really cool to see.”

“This doesn’t feel like a prop; it feels like an extension of me,” said Robbie Sisson, who takes on the role of Pooh. “At first I did try to imitate the voice of Jim Cummings who was the original voice of Winnie the Pooh, but...I started to do my own thing after a while.”

The only actor playing a human character on stage is Kiala Dean who has taken on the role of Christopher Robin.

“I’ve been watching Winnie the Pooh for the longest time; I love it,” said Dean of her history with the stories. “I’ve never played something so iconic and I just love Christopher Robin; he’s just, like, so cute and he has all of the animal friends — it’s so much fun.”
