Shadowbox Live showcases artwork from local organizations during holiday performances

Metaperformer & Gallery Curator Amy Lee said the Shadowbox Live gallery art is selected by theme for the individual shows.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — During their holiday shows this season, Shadowbox Live's gallery will showcase the work of artists from two central Ohio organizations dedicated to providing creative spaces for artists with developmental disabilities and differences.

"This particular exhibit that we're running right now is one of our most cherished," said Shadowbox Live CEO Stacie Boord. "They do an amazing job of selecting artists that are hanging on our walls a variety of different colors and mediums that really tell their own personal story. [It] really aligns well with the whole feeling of the holidays which is sharing and giving."

Metaperformer & Gallery Curator Amy Lee explained that the Shadowbox Live gallery art is selected by theme for the individual shows.

"We get to feature local artists and have a space where they can sell their artwork for only a 20% commission," said Lee. "That's unheard of for galleries."

However, for the gallery featuring artists from Goodwill and Open Door, Shadowbox Live has chosen to forgo their commission so that all of the money earned will go right back to the artists themselves.

Shadowbox Live's shows "Not So Silent Night" and "Holiday Hoopla" run through Dec. 22 and 28 respectively. For more information, visit: https://shadowboxlive.org/.
