ProMusica Columbus returns with free summer concert series

These events are free and open to the public.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Before they kick off their new season later this fall, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra will return to the stage next weekend for its annual free summer concert series.

The concert series kicks off with a performance on Aug. 6 at Alum Creek Park Amphitheatre followed by a pair of concerts at Franklin Park Conservatory on Aug. 8-9.

These events are free and open to the public. While some VIP tables are available in advance, concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to picnic and relax as the sun sets and the chamber orchestra entertains the crowd.

"[It's] just a really wonderful time, I think, to kind of end the summer, starting to look into fall, and just a great time to bring family and friends together for live music," said Janet Chen, CEO of ProMusica Columbus.

Two different concerts over three nights, "A Night in Vienna" will be performed on the 6th at Alum Creek as well as the 9th at Franklin Park Conservatory and will feature works by Mozart, Schubert and Kreisler. "Grieg & The Lark" will be featured only on the Aug. 8 performance at Franklin Park Conservatory.

"The summer series is really just, I think, incredibly important to the organization," said Chen.
