One-man original play, 'A View from a Small Planet,' showing at MadLab in downtown Columbus

Herring hopes to one day take the story's messages of hope, healing and gun control on the road as a traveling production.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The new play "A View from a Small Planet" is an original production that explores the heartbreaking topic of how one teacher tries to move on after a devastating school shooting.

The one-man play sees the character of 'Mr. Eastman' struggling with his grip on reality as he tries to find a way to help the victims find peace.

"As we see him go through this arc, we understand the pain and identify with the pain that [he] has as well as his desire for vengeance and his anger at everything from God and the Universe to humanity," explained Michael Herring who not only has produced the original story, but is portraying 'Mr. Eastman' in the production. "It's him discovering how to actually come out of it."

Herring hopes to one day take the story's messages of hope, healing and gun control on the road as a traveling production.

"A View From A Small Planet" runs through June 30 at MadLab in downtown Columbus. For showtimes and ticket information, visit: https://newherring.org/upcoming-shows/tnbtnbc-7e8mr.
