NEWPORT, Kentucky — The Newport Aquarium has found a new way to decorate for the fall season.

Underwater Pumpkin GLOW is a new immersive adventure that features larger-than-life displays of animals, all made from pumpkins. The event at the aquarium near Cincinnati launches Sept. 16.

The display that takes center stage is a 13-foot-tall giant Pacifica octopus made of pumpkins and illuminated underwater. Visitors can catch the display in the shark tank.

Have you ever seen fish swim alongside pumpkins?

Not only are the pumpkins decorations, they also serve as enrichment for the animals, according to the aquarium. The pumpkins serve as an artificial reef for the fish where they shelter and search for food.

Another animal display made up of pumpkins is the aquarium’s popular loggerhead sea turtle, Denver. The turtle display can be found in “Ring of Fire: World of the Octopus.”

The fall-themed event runs from Sept. 16 to Nov. 3 every day from open to close. It is included with general admission.
