COLUMBUS, Ohio — Monday marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Communities across the country typically honor the life and legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. through tributes and commemorations like community service, volunteering and readings.
Listed below are several events scheduled for Columbus and the surrounding area.
City of Columbus | Lincoln Theater, 769 East Long Street
Columbus is honoring Dr. King through its annual march and program on Jan. 16. The event is free and open to the public. The keynote speaker of the talk will be Luke Fedlam, a speaker and author on the business of sports and protecting athletes. Recording artist Nia Allen will also be in attendance. Delaware County | Ohio Wesleyan University, Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Avenue
The annual remembrance of Dr. King in Delaware County will kick off Jan. 15 with an online panel discussion and continue into Jan. 16 with a ticketed breakfast. Keynote speaker Nick Bankston will talk at the breakfast event. There will also be a performance by Urban Strings Columbus. Learn more here.

City of Dublin | Dublin Community Recreation Center, Community Hall; Dublin Senior Living Facilities
The City of Dublin announced that it will be kicking off its "MLK Civic Service Series," beginning on Monday. The city will be hosting an impact talk and inviting people to join a hands-on volunteer service project in conjunction with the senior living facilities in Dublin. Guests are invited to celebrate the life of Dr. King through visual and performing arts at a free open house on Jan. 16. There will be music, dance, documentary and audio presentations. Learn more here.

Otterbein University | South Grove Street; Campus Center, 100 West Home Street
Otterbein University is holding its annual convocation on Jan. 18 which will feature a keynote address by Dr. Donja Thomas and the return of Otterbein's Gospel Choir. The university also plans to host a service project to benefit Worthington Resource Pantry members, service dogs with Pilot Dogs organizations and homeless families in the Columbus area. Worthington is hosting an event Jan. 16 to remember Dr. King. The event includes a speech from keynote speaker Ohio State professor Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries and a musical performance by Capriccio Youth Choir and more. There will be a luncheon following the program. The event is free and open to the public, but everyone attending is asked to bring canned food items to be donated to the local food pantry.
