Franklinton's Wild Goose Creative debuts new exhibition, 'Perfection Was Never The Point'

The new show is called “Perfection Was Never The Point” and it marks the Columbus-area gallery debut for Ohio artist Maureen O’Keefe.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nonprofit arts organization Wild Goose Creative has debuted a new art exhibition at their creative space in Franklinton.

The new show is called “Perfection Was Never The Point” and it marks the Columbus-area gallery debut for Ohio artist Maureen O’Keefe.

"Being an advocate for the artists and for the arts is very important," said Sarah Barr, executive director of Wild Goose Creative. "I love that emerging artists feel safe to be able to take a chance and be on display for the first time."

According to Barr, Wild Goose's mission is "to build a community at the intersection of art, risk and meaning" and they provide resources and facilities to artists to help further their work. She points out that, per the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, the arts industry in Ohio was worth nearly $24 billion last year.

"We have workshop opportunities that allow [artists] to have first-hand information with business professionals such as bankers and CPAs and marketing agencies to really build that creative entrepreneurship and allow them to become successful in this professional industry," said Barr.

One big project Wild Goose Creative is partnering with this year is the major independent film “Down to the Felt” which will be filmed in Columbus this spring. Wild Goose serves as a fiscal sponsor for the film which allows people to support the production through tax-exempt donations made to the arts organization.

The movie from Columbus filmmakers Jon Osbeck, Ralph Scott and Dino Tripodis will feature central Ohio not only as the story's setting and production location, but it will employ around 200 local creatives both in front of and behind the cameras.

Said Barr, "They are adamant about using local [talent] which speaks true to all of our hearts."
