COLUMBUS, Ohio — Thousands of butterflies will be at Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens for the annual “Blooms & Butterflies” exhibition.
The exhibition, which features butterflies from around the world, will open Feb. 25 and stay at the conservatory until May 29. "Blooms & Butterflies" is included in general admission.
The exhibition will be showcased in the Pacific Island Water Garden, the largest indoor biome at the conservatory.
According to the conservatory, approximately 12,000 butterflies will be a part of "Blooms & Butterflies" with 700 to 800 arriving each week.
The butterflies first arrive at the conservatory as chrysalises and are then placed into the Metamorphosis Lab where they are cared for by staff until they emerge. Visitors can stop by the lab to learn more about the lifecycle and watch the butterflies throughout various stages.
The conservatory suggests visitors stop by during the day when butterflies are most active.
The opening day ceremony on Feb. 25 will begin at 11 a.m. and includes activities and garden fairy performers.
