COLUMBUS, Ohio — Endeavor Theatre is debuting a brand-new play by a local playwright in a very nontraditional space.
"Tour de Lune" was written by central Ohio native Laura Falb who came up with the story while working in a clothing store inside Tuttle Mall.
When searching for a place to hold the world premiere of the work, Endeavor Theatre leaned into the play's genesis and transformed an empty storefront at Tuttle into a perfect performance space for the new work.
"It's a very full-circle moment for me to not only be a part of it but be back in Tuttle Mall," observed Sarina Hyland, vice president of Endeavor Theatre and member of the "Tour de Lune" cast.
As longtime friends, Hyland worked with Falb at the mall while the latter was creating the world of the play.
"It's very different probably from most things that you'd see," explained Hyland of the story which follows, in part, a group of mannequins who escape their storefront existence with hopes of traveling to the moon to become human. "It explores a lot of themes [about] being human and what it's like to want and to let yourself want and dream and explore your feelings and be vulnerable. I would love if people could walk away from this being reminded of how precious life is and how exciting it can be to be alive. Even when the world seems a little scary, there's still places to find joy."
Endeavor Theatre's production of "Tour de Lune" runs through Nov. 10 at Tuttle Mall. For more information including showtimes and to purchase tickets, visit: https://endeavor-theatre.com/
