Contemporary Theatre of Ohio returns to stage with one-person performance of 'A Christmas Carol'

The production spotlights actor Angela Iannone who portrays author Charles Dickens as he retells his beloved Christmas tale.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio returned to the stage this weekend with an encore performance of last holiday season's standout adaptation of the classic "A Christmas Carol."

Presented as a one-person show, the production spotlights the talents of actor Angela Iannone who portrays author Charles Dickens as he retells his beloved Christmas tale, taking on the characters of spirits, ghosts, Cratchits, and Scrooge himself in the process.

"Angela is one of my favorite actors to watch in the world," said Leda Hoffmann, artistic director of The Contemporary as well as the director of this show. "She's just so incredibly talented and she has such an amazing toolkit. It's not full of tricks and gimmicks; she doesn't switch hats or anything. She just uses her voice [and] her body language to shift into the different characters."

The Contemporary's "A Christmas Carol" runs through Dec. 22 at the Riffe Center in downtown Columbus. You can find showtimes and ticket information here: https://www.thecontemporaryohio.org/2024-25/a-christmas-carol/.
