COLUMBUS, Ohio — Calling all readers! The Columbus Metropolitan Library has announced the lineup for its 2024 Carnegie Author Series.
This year's series will feature six different authors whose book genres range from romance to nonfiction to thriller to fantasy.
The featured authors include Brendan Slocumb, Rebecca Yarros, Lisa Scottoline, Abby Jimenez, Stephen Graham Jones and Dr. Matthew Desmond.
Each author's talk will be held on their assigned day at CML's Main Branch, located at 96 South Grant Ave.
All author talks are free and open to anyone, but free tickets are required for seating. The library will share registration details in the weeks leading up to each program on its website.

Brendan Slocumb - Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.
Slocumb is a music educator and best-selling novelist. In 2022, he released his debut novel, "The Violin Conspiracy," the story of a young Black musician who discovers that his old family fiddle is actually a priceless Stradivarius: when it’s stolen on the eve of the world’s most prestigious classical music competition, he risks everything to get it back. In 2023, Slocumb published his second novel, "Symphony of Secrets." He is now at work on his third novel to be published in early 2025.
Rebecca Yarros - Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m.
Yarros is the New York Times bestselling author of over twenty novels, including "Fourth Wing", "The Last Letter" and "The Things We Leave Unfinished." She’s also the recipient of the Colorado Romance Writer’s Award of Excellence for "Eyes Turned Skyward." Her Empyrean series, which includes "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame," will be adapted into a television series with Amazon with Yarros set to serve as a non-writing executive producer.
Lisa Scottoline - Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m.
Scottoline is a New York Times bestselling author and Edgar award-winning author of 35 novels including her latest work, "Loyalty." She has served as President of Mystery Writers of America, and her reviews of fiction and non-fiction have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Philadelphia Inquirer. She also writes a weekly column with her daughter for the Philadelphia Inquirer entitled Chick Wit.
Abby Jimenez - Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m.
Jimenez is a New York Times bestselling author and Food Network champion with her bakery Nadia Cakes. She is a romance novelist whose works include "Life's Too Short", "The Happy Ever After Playlist" and "Part of Your World." Her novels have been optioned by Thruline Entertainment, which has begun work on a film adaptation of "The Happy Ever After Playlist." Her bakery has gone on to win numerous Food Network competitions and, like her books, has amassed an international following.
Stephen Graham Jones - Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.
Jones is the New York Times bestselling author of over 30 novels and collections. He has written books in genres such as experimental fiction, horror fiction, crime fiction and science fiction. His most widely known works include the horror novels "The Only Good Indians", "My Heart is a Chainsaw" and "Night of the Mannequins." Jones contributed an X-Men story to Marvel Comics' "Marvel's Voices: Indigenous Voices #1" anthology released in November 2020.
Dr. Matthew Desmond - Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.
Desmond is a professor of sociology at Princeton University and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his book "Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City." The principal investigator of The Eviction Lab, Desmond’s research focuses on poverty in America, city life, housing insecurity, public policy, racial inequality and ethnography. A contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine, Desmond was listed in 2016 among the Politico 50, as one of “fifty people across the country who are most influencing the national political debate.”
