COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new event devoted to dogs in Franklin County is taking place at Prairie Oaks Metro Park on Saturday.

Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks is hosting the inaugural Bark Bash on Aug. 24. There are activities and entertainment for dogs and dog lovers.

Visitors can stop by the Bark Bash at the Darby Bend Lakes area of the metro park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event features canine vendors, canine rescue organizations, humane societies, food vendors and more. In addition to the offerings for pups, the Metro Park Outdoor Adventure is hosting stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking for both humans and their furry friends.

Owners will also be able to customize and tie-dye a bandana for their dog with Friends of Metro Parks.

"We are excited to announce the inaugural Bark Bash," stated Executive Director Tim Moloney. "We were sad to hear WAG! Fest was cancelled and knew the dogs and people of Franklin County would miss the fun. By providing an alternative event, it allows us to build upon the success of our previous events while embracing a fresh approach that aligns more closely with our mission to provide memorable experiences for our community and their canine companions."

Admission to the event is free. All dogs must be on a leash unless specified in off-leash areas. Owners are encouraged to bring water and waste bags for their dogs.

More information about this event can be found at metroparks.net/events.
