Memorial Day ceremonies, parades being held in central Ohio

In addition to community events, businesses and museums will have special events and discounts available to those who show a valid military ID.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — This Memorial Day, communities across central Ohio are honoring those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice. 

10TV has compiled a list of places holding ceremonies or other events on May 27 where people can remember those who died while serving the country.

Canal Winchester
Union Grove Cemetery
Canal Winchester is hosting a ceremony at the Union Grove Ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following that, local Boys and Cub Scouts will host a flag retirement ceremony on the cemetery grounds.

North Columbus
Union Cemetery - Columbus
Union Cemetery Columbus will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. on May 27 at the flag poles in the center of the cemetery. Veterans will make remarks and Taps will be played. This event is open to the public.

Southwest Columbus
Green Lawn Cemetery
Green Lawn Cemetery is holding an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will hand out free flags to decorate veterans' graves. At 11 a.m., visitors can enjoy a free picnic lunch in front of Huntington Chapel.

Dublin
Dublin Cemetery
A procession will begin through Historic Dublin with a wreath-throwing ceremony at the Bridge Street bridge at 11 a.m. A Memorial Day ceremony will take place 30 minutes later at the Dublin Cemetery.

Grandview Heights
Memorial Park
Grandview's memorial parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at First Avenue and Cambridge Boulevard and goes along First Avenue to Oxley Road. 

Groveport
Groveport Cemetery
The Groveport Memorial Day parade begins at 1:30 p.m. at Groveport Town Hall and ends at Groveport Cemetery where a ceremony will be held.

Grove City
Grove City Ceremony
A parade will step off from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 11 a.m. and travel to City Hall in the historic Town Center. A service at the Grove City Ceremony will immediately follow the parade.

Lancaster
Forest Rose Cemetery
Lancaster's parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends with ceremonies at Forest Rose Cemetery around 11 a.m.

Lithopolis
Lithopolis Cemetery, Wilson Park
The Lithopolis parade honoring fallen heroes will step off at 10 a.m. from the American Legion Post 677 and travel up Columbus Street to the Lithopolis Cemetery for a memorial service. After the service, a car show will be held in Wilson Park.

Marysville
Oakdale Cemetery
Marysville will have a wreath-laying ceremony honoring those lost at sea at 8:30 a.m. at Schwartzkopf Park. A Memorial Day Parade will take off from Fifth and Plum streets to West Fifth Street at 9 a.m. It will then end at Oakdale Cemetery where a ceremony will start at 9:45 a.m.

Plain City
Darby Township and Forest Grove cemeteries
A procession with members of the American Legion, Boy Scouts and Daughters of the American Revolution will march through Plain City and end at Darby Township Cemetery for a wreath presentation, followed by a ceremony at Forest Grove Cemetery.

Powell
Downtown Powell 
This year's parade will begin at 10 a.m. and feature around 40 units. It begins on Grace Drive and ends at the railroad crossing on Olentangy Street. A ceremony will be held immediately after at the Veterans Memorial in Village Green Park.

Worthington
East Dublin-Granville Rd., Walnut Grove Cemetery
The Worthington parade will kick off at 10 a.m. It begins on East Dublin-Granville Road and High Street to Cemetery Drive before a closing ceremony at Walnut Grove Cemetery in the Circle of Honor.
