Columbus radio station CD 92.9 going off airwaves this month

The station's last day on air will be Jan. 31.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus radio station is going off the air again.

The president of CD 92.9, Randy Malloy, announced the station "was unable to finalize an agreement" with FCC licensees ICS Communications, Inc. and Delmar Communications, Inc. that would have allowed them to continue broadcasting on the FM dial.

This is the second time the alternative rock station went off the air. The same station, under the name CD 102.5, couldn't come to an agreement with the FCC for a license in October 2020. It was only off air temporarily and came back as CD 92.9.

The WWCD brand has been around for 33 years and was established in 1990 as a independently owned and operated alternative rock station.

Malloy said in a statement: "While it pains me to once again announce our departure from the airwaves, the WWCD radio brand, along with CD 92.9 merchandise, will remain on our website."

The station's last day on air will be Jan. 31.
