HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources released the identities of two men who were found dead after swimming at Rose Lake at Hocking Hills State Park Sunday afternoon.

ODNR said the 26-year-old men, Karthick Alagarsamy and Raam Gautham, were last seen using a rope swing at the lake when one of the men swung into the water and the other jumped in to help after seeing him struggle.

Neither victim resurfaced, according to ODNR.

ODNR searched by boat until the bodies were recovered.

Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor, ODNR said.

ODNR reminded all visitors at state parks to be aware of local conditions, such as high or swift-moving water, that can pose additional safety risks and to carefully follow safety instructions from park officials and take note of posted advisory signs.
